On the Rise Country Music Duo
The name itself, Dirt Road Daisies, provides a beautiful vision of an open field of wild flowers down the long dirt road so many country music fans have grown up on. In the same manner, their band name also describes the soft and rough edges of its two daisies, Marci Mitchell and Holli Nicole Smith. Raised hundreds of miles apart and from different sides of the road, one with strong hometown roots and one who grew up a gypsy; these two girls found themselves in the heart of country music with the same star in their eyes and dream in their heart.
Marci Mitchell is from a small town in Nevada, MO. Nevada is much like most small towns in the mid-west and shaped the true, authentic country girl that is Marci. Marci’s fearless attitude, strong country roots and delightful stage presence have kept Marci performing on the road since she was 16. In addition to her quick wit and kind heart, Marci’s soulful southern voice resonates with all who hear her and provides a realness of a true country woman. Whether it’s a hard rocking country beat or a soulful slow song, you can hear the influences of Patty Loveless, Fleetwood Mac, Clay Walker and The Eagles. With hints of old country music legends, Marci has a sound all her own which people are immediately drawn toward.
Unlike Marci, Holli Nicole Smith was born and raised on Air Force bases throughout the world. She moved every year or two and had no true "hometown". But her moves brought on a strong sense of family, hard work and love of country. In high school, Holli’s wish came true and her Dad made a sacrifice in his career so she could finally call a place home in Abilene, TX. I guess you could say moving a lot shaped Holli, but Abilene got to her heart and she’s a proud Texas girl. Always being the new girl never stopped Holli from singing. She’s shared her gift with people around the world. Her unique vocal combination of southern soul, blues and old school country continues to delight people. Singing Patsy Cline, Tanya Tucker and Reba McEntire since she was a small child, Holli found her sound in the real country music of the past by singing stories with heart and passion.
In 2015, fate brought these two together when they were both asked to join an all girls group. The spark between Marci and Holli was instantaneous. Immediately these two began working together and quickly became the highly anticipated next great female duo in country music, Dirt Road Daisies. Like combing country greats Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline into one unique, powerful sound; their music is unlike anything else in today’s market. On their own these two women are strong but together they’re magic. Dirt Road Daisies: Real Women, Real Country Music.
